KELSEY PARK STUDENTS TOUR OLYMPIC PARKEight pupils along with Mr Hollidge and Mr Wilkinson made the short trip by the Docklands Light Railway to visit the Olympic Park in Stratford.
The visit was organised through the school signing up to the ‘Get,Set 2012 Network’, and pupils were chosen on their inspirational work in PE and their sports leaders course. They were then driven around the sight to view the Impressive Olympic Stadium, Aquatic centre, Velodrome, Handball Arena, Basketball Arena and the Olympic Village. As the tour was conducted pupils were given information about the site and the vast regeneration that has gone into making the site one of the most eco friendly in the Modern Olympic era. The site also includes accommodation, a school, a hospital and the biggest shopping centre in Europe. Not only will the site host the Games it will leave a Legacy with which British athletes will have opportunities to train and compete in readiness for Global competitions. The pupils enjoyed their day out and it has inspired them to increase the sports leaders work they have been doing and they aim to enthuse others and take a lead in spreading the Olympic message and values.
BROMLEY DIVING CHAMPIONAmelia Connolley (Balgowan Junior school) - National Diving Champion girls 8 & 9 years ‘I am very please to inform you that Amelia won the ASA National Skills Championships in Sheffield at the weekend. There were 265 competitors from the best teams in England and I have to say Amelia was in a class of her own winning by more than 22 points over her rivals from Luton and Guilford. In her qualify event at the London Regional's in March Amelia scored a perfect 10! We are really proud of Amelia's result. Amelia's and CP Diving We found Amelia when we talent tested in Bromley schools as part of the ASA "England" search for future Champions that was supported by Mike Vollar the PDM at the (Bromley West) school sport partnership’. Chris Snode LANGLEY PARK GIRLS SCHOOL SPORTS LEADERSLangley Park School for Girls Sports Leaders are currently going into Bromley Road Infant school to deliver a sports programme called Go Global to their Reception and Year 1 pupils. The games capture activities or aspects of different countries allowing pupils to become more aware of cultures or links to those countries. They will be visiting Bromley Road Infants for the next few weeks to deliver these games, and will then hopefully visit other primary schools to share these activities.
These are write ups from 2 members of the LPGS Sports Leaders:
Noive, Year 10:
“A small group of us went to Bromley Road Infant School as part of the Go Global Scheme. We taught 15 year 1 children. We started off with warm-up games and activities then did a game from Africa called the Boa-Constricta. It was a lot of fun and it looked like the children enjoyed it too! Our whole group would love to do it again!”
Nicola, Year 10:
“When we arrived at the school we set up our equipment before the children came in. After Miss Hamlett introduced us we started our warm-up games. We then played our Go Global game which was from Ghana. The children enjoyed all the games as they were really active. To cool them down we played ‘sleeping lions’. I am sure they loved the games as much as we did teaching them!”

On 15th July the Glebe School represented Bromley in the Panathlon Challenge. The challenge saw four special needs schools represent their Boroughs of Bromley, Croydon and two teams from Sutton. Pupils were split into five different teams to represent their school in Draughts, Cricket, Football, Netball and New Age Curling.
After a fantastic morning of sport the sport the Glebe had finished in second place for Football, New Age Curling and Netball. They had been even more successful in Draughts and Cricket winning the gold medals. This left the Glebe in first place overall with the Athletics event to come in the afternoon. With the Glebe knowing a second place finish would see them crowned champions, they ran away with Victory after a brilliant performance by all in the athletics seeing them achieve another 1st place finish leaving them 6 points clear overall. The event was very well organised and officiated which led to all involved to have a thoroughly enjoyable day and a great experience of a panathlon competition.
