Mini Young Ambassadors Programme
On the 10th of November 35 pupils from 13 different schools within the Kelsey Park, Hayes, Glebe and Bullerswood clusters attended the first session for the Mini Young Ambassadors Programme.
The session was led by the SSCo’s responsible for Kelsey Park and Hayes school. Pupils were selected on the basis that they had shown the willingness to get involved in Leadership. Pupils were taken through a booklet which investigated what went on at break times and lunchtimes in their school and what changes could be made. Pupils were then challenged to think of ways they could help to improve the activities that went on in their schools and how they could spread the message of the Olympic and Paralympics values.
The pupils got a real grasp of the values and looked at how they could help their schools and support teachers in delivering these values and incorporating them into school life. The pupils then split into groups and learnt how to lead a playground game. It was then their turn to lead the rest of the pupils through the game they had learnt. Pupils then discussed the attributes of a good leader and their roles as an ambassador for their school. All of the children involved had a good time and took positive messages away with them to promote in their school.
