Transition Assessment
Bromley made a successful bid through a consortium with Bexley and Greenwich to run a project entitled ‘Improving Transition and Assessment For Learning in Physical Education’.
In the autumn of 2006 2,778 young people from 27 secondary schools in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich completed an online survey. One of the key findings was:
- 81% of pupils in year 7 didn’t know their current PE National Curriculum level.
As part of the project our target is to provide transition assessment data for all year 6 pupils in Bromley in order that pupils experience a better transition in their learning when they move into Year 7.
All Primary and Junior schools across the 3 boroughs have been asked to complete transition information forms for each of their year 6 pupils these forms will be collected by School Sports Coordinators by the end of June and then sent on to all Heads of PE at secondary schools by the end of term. For a copy of the transition information form click on the link below

In order to support schools completing these forms 2 training courses were run in March 2007 for Year 6 teachers. We are running a catch up session on Thursday 7 June 2007 from 1.00-4.00 p.m. for any schools who could not make this training. The session will involve video observation of pupils performing skills in games, gymnastics and dance. The aim is to standardise across the borough teacher’s recognition of the progress pupils should have made in PE by the end of KS2. If you would like to reserve a place on this course please return the booking form below
